The structuring of a marketing plan should follow the outline presented in the Marketing Plan section of “Developing a Business Plan” in this web site. This outline presents a twelve step guide that includes the following:

  4. Defining the customer base

  6. External factors that could affect long term sales

  7. Developing a pricing strategy

  8. Selling your product or service

  9. Sales policies, including credit terms & warranties

  10. Packaging, labeling and technical literature

  11. Compensating the sales effort

  12. Advertising and promotional techniques
